The Foundation

Founded in March, 2007 by the Municipality of Toscolano Maderno, the Burgo Group Ltd. Paper factory and the association of Retired paper mill workers of Toscolano, the foundation main goal is to increase awareness of the historical and industrial heritage of the Paper Mill Valley, heart of an intense and renewed paper making tradition that dates back to the 15^thcentury and lasted up until the second half of the last century.The foundation helps the Paper Mill Valley historical heritage through the fostering of studying, researching and developing the fascinating world of papermaking. Through direct management these goals have been achieved and, the Centre of Excellence, from 15^th to 20^th century an intense papermaking production site, now known as Paper Museum, is nowadays a totally restored Museum, home to an innovative educational and exhibition area. In May, 2017 it has been awarded the definition of “Museum Collection” by the government authority of Lombardy region.
